Me

Hello and welcome. If by chance you click on here accidentally then please do my the favour of at least leaving a quick "hello" in the comments section. It takes two seconds to put a smile on someone's face.
:-)
I began this blog just as I was about to fulfil an ambition of mine which was to have an allotment.
On November 26th 2011 my local authority finally sent me a letter offering me a plot after my name had been on their list for a few years.
I'm hoping this blog will develop and maybe even become interesting as time progresses as and when life allows.

I live in the NorthWest of England on the border of Cheshire and Merseyside. I'm a keen allotmenteer as well as a capable cook and amateur brewer.
I am attempting to grow as much produce as possible in my small 109 square meter allotment to aid somewhat in the feeding of my family of four. Finding time to accomplish all that I would like may not always be possible but from May 2015 I shall be aiming for at least a weekly update . Updates will take on the initial stage of a photograph and later as time permits I shall add the text (or even vice versa depending on what device I'm using at the time.) .
2015's big challenge will be to see if I can compete with the late Geoff Hamilton's £2 a week garden from back in 1983. I discovered this book by chance in January 2015 and thought why not see if most of the principles from back in 1983 were still possible today. I remember 1983 well but back then I wasn't watching Gardener's World although I had built a lean-to greenhouse with my older siblings in which I grew Moneymaker tomatoes, radish and potatoes. I was still in primary school back then and I remember that year well because my father died at the end of November. This project might continue longer than a year as I have quite a large seed stash that needs utilizing this year and new purchases will only distract me from doing so.
I thank you for reading and hopefully, you will return. Thank you, Paul

Below is the header I was using for this blog for several years up until November 2020:

  1. Good luck Paul. I live in Cheshire also, near Manchester and 'm interested in promoting opportunities for allotments in the community where I live as many don't have much money and growing their own food would help their pockets, ttheir spirits and their diet. I'm fighting to prevent selling off of former allotment land by the Council for building houses on.
